Problems with log and transfer

Hi, i'm trying to copy Panasonic DVCPRO HD files from an external hard drive to my scratch disk but after a while a few of the files says that they are queued and later on the whole transfer process stops and the screen just says idle. Help, please.
 
What computer with what OS, QT, and FCP version numbers?

How much RAM?

What are you using as a dedicated internal scratch/media drive.

What sequence settings?

What did you shoot in the 170? 720 and 1080 at what frame rate?

What external HDD?

Do you have Noise Industries FX Factory install? If so, what version number.

Has this just occurred, and did you recently update or install new OS or QT versions?

Help us out.

I don't know what you mean by sequence settings unfortunately?

720P 25fps

Western Digital 500GB HDD

No extras installed

I'm new to FCP and this is my first project. Most of the clips copy okay but quite a few don't, even though they preview fine.
