Problems with FS700 Firmware update

Hi There,

I'm having issues with updating my FS700 to 3.10. This is the first time I have tried to update my camera, so I don't know if the issue has been there from the start. Basically, no computer will recognise my camera. I have tried the following;

>> About 10 different USB cables
>> Resetting the camera to factory settings
>> Mac running 10.8 and another running 10.7
>> PC running Windows 7
>> Rebooting the camera a bunch of times

Seeing as I've only shot internally once, I don't have any experience connecting my camera via USB. The one time I did shoot internally, I just loaded the SD card into the side of my iMac. Do you guys usually get the camera recognised as a hard drive? Cos I don't get that.

Is this looking like a hardware issue? Anyone had similar issues?

Cheers, P

After you connect usb and the usb logo shows on the fs700 screen, you need to use the menu pad on the fs700 to hit enter on it to enter mass storage mode.
for the fw update you will also need hard power or you will get a cryptic error just when you would be expecting to write firmware, partially through the process

Wow, felling like an utter retard right now, haha. I just thought it was connected when it said USB. Thanks for the VERY SIMPLE solution!
