Hello, I am using a GH2 with a vivitar series 1, 28-90. I am shotting a classical guitar and many times I get an alliasing effect in the strings. I dont have experience with this problem

Can I fix this in post?

What would you guys recommend to avoid this in the camera? any other solution?

Best regards

Can you post a screen-shot of the problem.

I haven't seen too many aliasing problems with GH2 footage, but there is definitely a rolling-shutter issue with most DSLR cameras when shooting guitar strings. ( the strings do their own bizarre dance that is caused by the CMOS sensor rolling-shutter delay )

My guess is that it is the rolling shutter that you're referring to, as The Dingo pointed out. The best way to counter act this is to set the shutter speed to 1/50 or even 1/40 of a second. You get blurred strings as they vibrate at a much higher speed than the shutter.

Oh there's plenty of aliasing, especially on wide-end of sharper lenses.

There's not much you can do about it apart from some blurring, but that doesn't help a lot and can quickly ruin your image.

I've never had aliasing be an issue for me except with pattern of death type shirts. Granted, while I have a very critical eye and it's never caught my attention on the GH2 in any normal situation, if I really hunted harder I could probably find it in other situations. But, if I have to hunt that hard to find it, it's not an issue for me as no viewer will notice it either. Maybe when I throw something up on the cinema screen I'll care a lot more. Even near pattern of death shirts often turn out to be only slightly problematic, where as they would destroy most other cameras (cough 7D... cough... cough... 5D). I really do have a cough and I really was coughing while I typed that, FYI... =)

Shooting over the past two years I have rarely experienced aliasing or moire with the GH2. When it does appear it's usually in tiny details.

I've seen it appear in very fine curved hydro wires, or in the wood grain of a pair of custom eyeglasses when shooting a 3/4 body shot, but otherwise everything else has been extremely clean and sharp.

Noticing it kind of badly today on a shoot- corporate heads, white seamless. Noticing it in the smooth curves of the guy's ears against the white cyc. Wonder wht I could do differently. Flow motion 2 hack, lumix g x 12-36 and 35-100. Thoughts?

I need to see a full resolution screen shot of the problem you are experiencing. ( you will likely have to post a download link as the forum software won't allow full resolution images )
