problems with 24p

Those are color/chroma sampling errors, which are limitations of the DV format itself, not interlacing.

Look people...

24p isn't all that big a deal. Take some time and research it... understand what the term IS and how it relates TO THIS CAMERA!!

Then you won't have any problems.

24p
24pA
pulldown cadence
2.3.3.2
3.2
23.98
29.97
frames
fields

Once you can use all of those terms in a sentence that's all you need to know.

...one sentence?

lol, yes these are definitely the terms to know. people should especially learn these words before posting questions on the forum. most of the time, they will answer their own question once they realize the meaning of those terms and how they relate to each other.

It is not that easy, you need to know how all those terms relate to each other. It is pretty hard to explain to people that they need to capture their 24PA footage at a 29.97 frame rate and have Final Cut delete the extra info.

well... you'd capture 24p at 29.97 also. So that makes it simple.

But yes... you are correct... how they relate to each other is MOST important.

LOL... you actually CAPTURE 24P and 24PA BOTH at 29.97 as the frame rate. FOr 24PA you either remove pulldown after the fact or have FCP do it on capture. Confusing huh?

Definitely can be confusing. I spent many years answering DVX100/24p questions on the boards before finally making a training DVD all about this stuff to help folks get their heads around it.

You and I are from the same mold. We both spent boat loads of time researching this... Adam Wilt was my guru even before I bought the camera back in 04. I read everything on his site. Read up on telecine too.

Helped MANY people thru this. I guess I'm just wondering where all the self-help-attitude went.
