Hi, I just upgraded my system from Windows XP Pro w/ SP1 to SP2. In addition, I upgraded from Avid Xpress Pro 4.6 to 5.7.
My processor is an Intel Celeron M 2.4 Ghz, 512MB RAM (I know I need more) and I store my media on an Acomdata external drive via firewire.
When I tried to upgrade my system in the past to SP2 it created a problem with audio and video playback in Avid 4.6. So I reverted back to SP1. The problem is that the minimum requirement for alot of the new Adobe software requires SP2. I thought the issue might have been with Xpress Pro and not SP2 so I thought that installing 5.7 might abate the problem. But no luck.
As to the problem, it is kind of a stuttering problem with the audio and video. The playback starts and stops and you can here the "sampling" in the audio.
I've turned off all my firewalls. I tried the same set up on my HP laptop and it works fine. So it is some kind of issue with my computer, SP2 and Avid Xpress Pro (regardless of version.)
Anybody have any ideas on somethings to try?
Thanks
Eric
