Problems uploading HPX170 footage to FCP

Hey guys,
I just shot a film in three separate days, I dont have enough memory on both my p2 cards to hold the amount of footage that I had to shoot for each day so I dumped the footage onto my laptop (15 inch macbook pro). I then dropped all of that footage on my external hardrive. Then i plugged my external hard drive in to my desktop powermac g5, opened up Final Cut Pro and tried to load the footage via Log and Transfer. When i did this- a message from Final Cut Pro popped up and it said something about "unsupported media". What does this mean? I changed the format on my HPX to shoot 24p 720p- something i had never done before. My version of FCP is 6. I figured the issue was with FCP so i ordered the most recent version of Final Cut Studio. Should it work on that? Is there any other way to get it to work?

Please let me know guys,
Avery

Each p2 card should have its own folder, lets say it reads this.

shoot_card_01 -> contents folder and lastclip.txt folder

ingest in log and transfer one folder at a time. try that.

if that doesn't work make a screen grab of what your files are organized as.

i understand now that you are not supposed to rename the folders, i did this already. I do not have the clips on my p2 cards anymore because they were already filled up completely. Now all i have is folders separated by AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO, VOICE.

Your file structure sounds off. All of those folders should be contained in a master folder along with the lastclip.txt file outside of the master folder.

lasclip.txt is needed if a clip spans from one to another you should have a file "contents and lasclip. and then click on content and it will go to AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO, VOICE.

but do get in the habit of copying each card (contents folder AND lastclip file) into its own new folder named for the card - example:

SATURDAY_CARD_01
SATURDAY_CARD_02
and so on...

and dont go changing names of anything on the cards. you can give stuff different names in the log and transfer process if need be

Good advice wgzn. And always retain the lastclip.txt file. Different editing apps do and do not require it and you never know what app someone may use to edit your footage, now or in the future.

Thanks a lot for the tips and advice guys, still getting used to the camera and things like that. Appreciate it- please also, look out for my films and let me know what you think
