Problems Printing to Video

I'm editing on FCP 5.1 and am having trouble printing to video using firewire back to my Panasonic DVX100B. When the timeline is printing it always skips and stutters on the camera and throws everything out of synch. Everything seems to be playing fine on the computer, I can only see these glitches on the camera. I tried with another camera - a little Samsung handycam - and got the same result. My A/V settings are all set to Firewire NTSC. Pls help!!!

Thanks

What computer with what RAM and what media drive are you using?

For example using a FW drive with a FW cam hooked to same bus can cause this.

And have you mixed down audio?

I'd try outputting a full QuickTime movie and then playing that out to tape. It sounds like perhaps you have a lot of unrendered audio or video or perhaps too much media spread across slower hard drives with no enough RAM.

So I exported to a .dv file. Then I re-imported that and it printed to video fine. Thanks! Just one more question: was that what you meant by "try outputting a full QuickTime movie and then playing that out to tape." Was there an easier way to do it?

So I'm still having problems. Now I'm just trying to lay broll (straight cuts, no effects) and I'm having the same problems. Any other suggestions?

You didn't say what your system was like- bottlenecks in speed come from Firewire drives, drives full, slow processor/GPU, less RAM etc.
