Problems gaining access when using a HVX

New Orleans Police and Louisiana State Police, been beat up by both, just for having long hair and asking why I was pulled over. I guess that's why they call it Sportsmens Paradise.

My first date with my ex-wife in N.O, we got held up at gun point. Called the NOPD (can you say "slacker with a gun"). Cop (I use the word "cop" to be polite, it's not what I normally use) listened to our story, said "Well, don't be walking around at night" and went to get in his car. We asked if he was going to file our report and look for the guy. Know what his answer was? "Why?" And then drove off.

Yeah, not a fan of NOPD or LA. State Troopers. And they wonder why no one wants to be one, no matter how hard they try to recruit.

The A1's just as big, I'm sure it would meet the same restrictions. The V1U is a little smaller, but I don't know if it's small enough to make a difference.

I have the HVX and A1. I didn't try taking in an HVX, but I was able to get the A1 into the Pearl Harbour Memorial without the extra microphone equipment. Great little camera to sneak in places when in doubt.

We are talking about the Sony HVR A1 and its size would make the camera an obvious guerrilla cam. It is used often for difficult doc work, snap off the microphone unit and disappear in the crowd.

The poster I was responding to mentioned the XH-A1. That's the one that I said was "just as big as the HVX".

Obviously the Sony A1U is a tiny camera and shouldn't draw nearly as much attention.
