Problems exporting to tape....

Hey guys, Been a long time since I've been around here. Last time everyone was talking about the RED so I sort of bailed out for a while.
Anyway, just edited a project for a friend and he wants it back out on DV tape. I usually burn to DVD and have had no issues. I can't seem to get it back to tape.
Using a DVX100A and editing in Premiere Pro 2.0. Tried using the "Export to Tape" feature and get nothing. Can't seem to find any instructions in the manual either.

Camera is hooked up and recognized. When I hit the record button on the Export to tape pop up window it starts recording on the camera but just records blue screen w/ no sound.

Gonna cross post this in the Premiere Pro section too since it may be a PPr issue.
Thanks for the assistance.
Greg

Sirius, long time no see.
I merged your posts with a redirect to focus the answers here.

This is probabaly a Premiere issue. Do you normally preview video out through DV? do you have any other video capture cards in your machine?

I use the Matrox RTx100 card to preview on my monitor. I've never really used the camera as a pass-thru device or to dump back to tape.

That is a function that the Matrox card is capable of as long as you are using the 6157 drivers. Also you must be starting up a project using the Matrox Preset in order to do realtime back to tape.

Best,

In Premiere there are two Playback Settings accessed through the drop down menu on the side of the Program Monitor. Little Triangle.

One is an Export Device Setting. The other is a Playback Setting

The Matrox card maybe an issue but I doubt it. ( I had one once) Have you a different F/Wire connector you can use (ie not on the Matrox Card)

Whz - I do have the 6157 drivers and did create this video with a matrox preset but I don't think it has anything to do with the matrox card. I've edited and dumped back to tape off my laptop and this desktop before to other camera's but not the DVX. That's why I posted here, because I thought it had to do with the camera and not a PPo setting. Unfortunately I do not have access to another camera now to try it. I only have my DVX now. I used to have a Canon Elura40MC that I used as a deck and it worked great for input & export. I do remember having to change a menu setting on the Canon to get it to except the firewire feed and that's what I was hoping was the issue here with the DVX.

Shooter - thanks for the info. I'll give it a look tomorrow when I have a chance and let you know but as I have already said above, I don't think it's a PPr setting.

Thanks everyone.
