Problems Capturing 24p with FCP, Help!

Hi, I'm new to the forums, sorry in advance if I'm doing anything wrong.
I've searched around and haven't been able to find a detailed solution to a problem I've been having.

I recently shot some footage using the Panasonic DVX100b at 24p , and now want to capture it and begin editing in Final Cut Pro to eventually put it on the web.

I'm new to editing with 24p, and was hoping someone could walk me through all the capture settings and all the export settings needed to have the final product look as good as possible. Keep in mind that I will NOT be making a DVD, and the footage will not be seen on a television, I'll only be posting it to the web.

Thanks a lot everyone!

(I think my problem may have been that I was trying to capturing with Final Cut Express, and I ended up getting really ugly quality videos with pixelation and blur. A filmmaker friend told me that FCE does not have as many capture options and does not handle 24p very well, is this true? I will be switching to FCP today, going to pick up the program now.)

No worries. I had the same problem yesterday and I was asking the same question too.

For 24p footage, Capture Standard NTSC 48KHz and Edite on a 29.97 timeline. (which is standard timeline)

or

If you are using FCP, you can Capture Standard NTSC 48KHz, remove 2:3 pulldown w/ Cinema Tools and Edite on a 23.97 timeline if you want to. (which is a little more advanced)

yesterday I actually captured standard and edited on a standard timeline w/ FCE but I wasn't too happy with the results after I exported it.
so maybe you should try the advanced version !?

anyway, I made myself a shooting/capture chart so let me post it here for you.

60i footage = Capture w/ DV NTSC 48KHz < Edite on 29.97 timeline.
24p footage = Capture w/ DV NTSC 48KHz < Edite on 29.97 timeline. (or remove 2:3 pulldown and edite on 23.97 timeline like I said for a little more advanced version)
24pA footage = Capture w/ DV NTSC 48KHZ 2:3:3:2 Advanced pulldown < Edite on 23.97 timeline.

Awesome, thanks very much for the quick replies!
Both posts were very helpful, I think I'll be alright now. Can stop pulling my hair out.
