GH2 Problem with playback and damaged photo and video on my GH2!?

Hi everyone,

I have had my GH2 for a few months and has been working brilliantly and through the middle of shooting yesterday i couldn't view my photos or videos. I get errors when ever I go on the playback:
'This motion image cannot be played'
'This picture cannot be played'

If I try to delete any photo or video from the camera is says: 'write error please check the card'

I got home and downloaded them to my mac and most of them you could view but were damaged (heres an example http://www.four58.co.uk/P1000625.jpg )

fyi: I'm using a SanDisk extreme class 10 sd card

If anyone has any idea what is causing this problem whether its a camera problem or a card problem that would be great.

thanks, Ben

Format the card you have in the camera periodically. I f you have not formatted the card in some time, it will get fragmented and perhaps that's what is happening to you... Al

The way I have formatted the card so far is by deleting all the photos and videos from the camera to free up space, I have probably done that about 10 times. Is there another way I should be formatting it?

Yeah, use the format function.

Right, I have formatted it a few times, reset the camera and reset the file numbers. I record a test video and test and still get the error message "This motion image cannot be played", "This picture cannot be played" and "read error please check the card"?

Seems like a bum card. Find another card to test, and if that one is good, then say goodbye to the first one. Perhaps there is some warranty. If on the other hand you get the same issue with a second card, then you need to look to the camera.

You could try to do a low level formatting using http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3 application ... My laptop has a SCSI card reader that did an excellent job with that application (my mobile phone microSD card was having similar issues - windows format tool didn't help).

You could as well try the formatting function that the camera has after that...

If it keeps error'ing then either the camera or the card have an issue... try another card like suggested by the other users...

Hi, sorry haven't posted in a while. I took my camera to a repair shop and they said the sensor is faulty and needs replacing, which is strange as I haven't dropped it! Hopefully it will be covered by the warrantee. Thanks for all the help.
