Problem with MTF Services of U.K.

On 10/6/11 I purchased an MFT/Nikon adapter for the af100 from the mtfservices.com website. I chose Royal Mail as the shipping option and paid via PayPal. I received confirmation from PayPal and MTF Services for the purchase.

I have heard nothing from MTF Services since. I emailed them three days ago asking if the order had been shipped and if there was a tracking number. I have yet received no response to my inquiry and am beginning to be concerned about this transaction.

Has anyone else on this forum had similar problems dealing with MTF Services?

I realize that any shipping via Royal Mail or US Mail is slow and am not questioning that. I am concerned with the lack of communication by the company.

I bought an MTF Nikon G adapter a few weeks ago, via Creative Video. It's a decent piece of kit - dramatically better than the cheapskate eBay adapter I bought previously. However, the order from Creative did take some time to arrive, and I've a suspicion that the MTF unit held everything else up. As best I can tell, they have rather modest production capacity - much of what they do seems to be bespoke work for the film industry.

They're a genuine company and the product's worth waiting for - give them a few more days then ping them again?

My experience of the UK mail service is that it is awesome. Consistently 5-7 days from the U.K to New Zealand.

On the other hand UPS from the U.S is atrocious. (They even publish that Priority mail is 20 days +. !!!!)

Perservere with contacting the manufacturer or check the UPS section of the mail delivery.

Correction : USPS is the one I have had very bad delivery times from on a nmber of frustrating occasions.
Always difficult to be patient when waiting on a new piece of kit for the camera.

Differentiate UPS from USPS; UPS is the guys in the brown trucks, USPS is the United States Postal Service.

And yes, USPS delivery is horrifically slow sometimes, although not always. I ship books and DVDs to European customers all the time, and sometimes (rarely) they will get to their destination in four or five days. More frequently it takes 18 to 21 days. And this is using the Priority Mail service, which claims delivery in 4-6 days! It ain't so. It takes for.e.ver. And the tracking numbers are useless, they don't actually track until the package is delivered. Frequently the tracking number won't even acknowledge that the post office has received the package when I ship it! Sometimes a customer will ask "hey, it's been three weeks, and the post office says that you only notified them that the label was created, they didn't ever show you as having dropped off the package." And almost invariably it arrives at their place within a couple of days later, and THEN the post office updates the "tracking" info... sigh.

So -- not saying any of this is applicable to your MTF situation, but just pointing out that Shooter's observations about the efficiency of the USPS as regards international delivery are pretty much spot-on.

Thanks, guys, for your responses.

It's just so upsetting to deal with people that offer such poor customer service and refuse to give you information.

Shooter is spot-on about waiting for new kit!!!

Mike Tapa at MTF is usually very reliable indeed. Don't worry, he will get your product to you, and it will be worth the wait. I know he's been busy getting his Canon EF lens mount on the production line, so it might be that you've just ordered at an extremely busy time.

Actually I have had some less than stellar customer service from Mike Tapa. He was very responsive at first and attempted to address an issue I had with an adapter. But it's been 9 months and I haven't heard a peep out of him since.

Received the adapter yesterday. Very happy with it but not happy with the lack of customer service.
