problem with mosaic digital look

I shoot on a DVX100b and have been using a consumer Panasonic DV951 to transfer the tape to computer. Keep getting weird stuff going on. 5 or 6 lines of bandiing and digital noise but you can barely see segments or lines of the image on the 951 lcd. Tried using the Panasonic cleaning tape that came with 100b but no luck. Is there anything I can use or try or should I just buy a cheap miniDV to transfer? I am using the recomended Panasonic tapes for recording:dankk2:. Thanks ahead of time.
 
I'm using panasonic tapes, and tried the head cleaner too.. i have a brand new camera and the first 5 hrs arent that good because of the digital stepping im getting around table edges and bowls :( I'm thinking I should maybe have spen 1/3 the money and bought something that would have worked better.
 
It played back on the DVX just fine, fortunately. I have had a prob with the Pan 951 once before, cleaned the heads and it was fine. Did not want to spend $200 on something to play back if I can avoid it. Thanks.
