problem with logging m2t files in final cut

I have tried log and transfer and it won't recognize m2t files from an external drive only from the original card they were recorded on with the camera. I copied the whole folder from the card to the drive and I cannot import them, please help

Which version of FCP on what computer with how much RAM? Which camcorder recorded the mts files?

We can't see what you have and what you are doing with it from here, so specifics are important.
