PRoblem with HVX rear element..now what?

I have a new HVX that has an aberration right in the middle of the frame..looks like a nick or imperfection on the rear element...B&H says it has to go to a local repair shop and the one they advised is a TV repair shop...I love automated responses...Any ideas?
 
how New is it? They dont have a policy for recently purchased defective stuff to be returned for another one?
 
I would like to relate an experience I have had with B&H recently that has turned me off to the company. Over the past few months I have bought from them my HVX, 2 p4 cards, UV filter, ridiculously priced Bogen bag for my 516 and an Acer laptop to download P2. I received the laptop and out of the box it began to crash. I called B&H and they gave me an RMA# and told me I would be refunded. In reliance of this statement, I purchased a replacement laptop same day.

A week after I sent them the laptop, there was no charge back on my AMEX. I called, they told me the laptop was in for "repair" I explained it was a return and thought I had cleared it up. Second week passes, no charge back. I call, now they tell me they need to "evaluate" the problem to make sure it can be a return for defect. This "evaluation process" was never mentioned when I got the RMA and If they had, I wouldn't have ordered the replacement until after the evaluation. A third week goes bye, They tell me the laptop was defective (no sh%$) and the return is being processed. Days go bye and not refund.

I finally called amex and put the charge in for dispute. B&H still hasn't charged back the card. They have not said they wouldn't, they just haven't done it and it has been a month. I am done with them and they will miss out on my wireless lav purchase as well as quite a few other items.
 
looks like you're in the same boat i'm in. i have a dead pixel on my HVX (see dead pixel thread). i've been told that only two service centers exist for the HVX. I'll be sending my camera into the LA service center, I imagine the other one is closer to Florida.

it's also been a huge hassle. I'm still unclear on what i'm supposed to do and hope to clear that up ASAP.
