Hey guys new here. just wanted to ask a quick question.

I'm using a avid xpress pro hd system. We are having troubles hooking up any camera or deck. We have a XL-1 and a panasonic DVCpro hd 1200a that we are trying to get working with avid. when we plug the deck or the camera into the computer windows reconizes it. We can even controll the dvcpro deck with windows movie maker, but once in avid nothing is working. cannot see the deck or camera.
Any help would be great, kinda on a tight time budget.
thanks

Sorry can t help you there,....but i would say, digitize with window movie maker and then import the files in avid. Should work perfectly.

Good luck

Though of that, only thing is windows movie maker probably wont handle HD.

We seam to have it figured out now. we are madly digitizing as I type
thanks for the help

The problem occured when you turn on the camera when Avid is already open. Norrmally, I open the cam after Windows boot and I open the Avid software after. In the deck configuration, you should be able to configure the deck and be able to control it after.

I don't know much about Avid Express Pro HD, but in my Express Pro 4.3, when I open the capture window and I haven't connected or turned on the decks/camera, I will get a pop-up window saying "no input signal" or somehting like that.

Where the controls are it will also say NO DECK. Just under the control unit however, there is a little pull down menu that says 'Generic DV Device-PAL'. If you click on that, at the bottom of the list there is an option that says "Check Decks". If I click on that it recognises any newly connected device. Is there something like that in the HD version?

Hope that is useful

Phil
