GH2 Problem with freshly received GH2: lens not recognized in normal video (crop mode is)

Hello everyone,

I just got the GH2 this morning (second hand, but guy is serious, no problem), and started toying with it. I bought a Nikon (I got several Nikon lenses, new ones, AF) /m 4/3 adapter, and at first I couldnt take photos at all, I managed to get it working for photos, but everytime I try to shoot video with it, it tells me Lens not found.

The weird thing is that I just shot something in crop mode (but its like 1 second long when I try to replay it), but it doesnt work when I shoot in the regular mode. Helppppppppppp please!

Do you have the "Shoot without lens" option turned on?

Do your video settings utilize all manual settings? As the camera can't see the lens, it won't work if it thinks it needs to set shutter/aperture.

Note that "shoot without lens" has to be engaged in each individual mode, so just because it's engaged in one of the photo modes doesn't mean it will also be engaged in manual movie mode.

Yeah! It works, thanks! Btw, is there a reason why when I'm in movie mode, what I'm seeing on the LCD screen looks like 60 fps video?! It makes it super hard to move smoothly, is there a reason to this?! I've got the 24p mode on, where does it come from?!

What do you mean regarding viewing on the LCD? Do you mean playing back on it or watching on the LCD as you record?

Also, what do you mean by "it makes it super hard to move smoothly"? Won't you get smoother (less motion blur) from 60fps image if you were panning? Or do you mean you see interlacing artifacts similar to what you'd expect in the 60i modes?

One little question: how do you set up the aperture in video mode?! I have one of my Nikon lenses (which is a 50 mm) and I can't set it up on the lens directly (you know, just switch it for ex from f/something to f/something), and I can"'t seem to find it on the body, I set it up on M to control shutter and aperture, so I know how to set up the shutter speed, iso, but dont know how to set up aperture, helpppppppppp :D

sounds like nikon g series if you don't have a manual aperture, than you need an adapter than can achieve that. look into adaptimax or similar.

Yep, G series, this is retarded, so no possibility to set the aperture in camera, since this is manual?! Suckssssssss, thanks for the answer though
