I recently purchased a dvx100a, and after using it for a few test shots and now a couple jobs, I have noticed that on high contrast images, the edges seem to stutter as the camera moves.
For example, I have a shot at a wedding, and there is a lit candle in front of the bride. The fire on the candle stutters as I move the camera about. Almost as if the camera trying to electronically freeze the image of the fire but not succeeding since I'm moving slowly.
In another example, I shot an clip where there are flower in the foreground and the bride+groom in the background in focus... the white flowers in the foreground look like they are having frantic seizures.
I'm pretty sure I was shooting on 60i mode at the time.... Scene file 1, but on auto focus and since i was handheld at the time I had my OIS turned on. If the dvx had EIS then I may ahve attributed this problem to that, but if its Optical it shouldn't look the way it did.
To all you DVX users:
Is this normal? It really disturbs me because I don't think my image should be looking this way. I've shot for years on an XL1s and never have seen something like this.
I also recently got a job editing a music video and they footage they brought me was 24p normal shot out of a dvx100a. There were several high contrast points, but I never saw any of the same problems like in my camera.
Any insight would be helpful. I hope that this is user error and not just the kind of image this camera produces :undecided Thanks in advance.
