Problem with DV tape playback on HVX

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help.
I am not able to playback anything on DV tape within the camera, after recording 480i.

Recording and playback for P2 is fine, but once I switch and shoot some standard 480i to tape, I can not review or change to VCR mode and review on he camera....I also have a DVX and this practice was pretty standard. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.

It appears to show a time code at the top display. There is the * after the TC...
I have changed just about every setting I can find with regards to timecode and have recorded on both a new tape and tape that I had recorded a time code on with the lense cover on to set a time code across the whole tape....

Any suggests is greatly appreciated, and hope I explained it well enought

Working with tape mode should be exactly like working with the DVX. You can toggle back to VCR mode and use the menu buttons to play footage.

thanks for responding Barry,

I thought the system would be the same also...but when I move the camera to vcr mode and use the menu buttons as I would with the dvx I get a * after the TC in the view finder and the LSC display does not display and video....it show the blue screen and I see a few rectangular pixels of images start to build...this continues for several minutes...

I can review P2 fine, but not tape...I do not have access to a computer to try and capture with Adobe P, so cannot tell you if it will capture any video....but play back will not on the camera...

...I am really stuck here and on a shoot and in turn am having to capture everything to FireStore at this time....I am not able to tell if the tape is even recording, but am able to see that the tape is being used and the tranport during recording is working....due to the tape itself... but can not move forward or backward in vcr mode at all on the camera..

thanks for you response and hope you can shed some light on this..

I'm saying that in a properly-functioning system, that workflow does work. So you've got something haywire; either you're playing back a tape that doesn't have any footage on it, or your camera's heads are massively dirty and need a major cleaning, or something like that. But in a normal HVX it works just like a DVX would.

Try a different tape perhaps?

The camera is brand new, less than 10 hours of shooting prior to this problem. I have tried 3 tapes and all have the same problem....

sounds like it will need to go back to the dealer..I have tried everything I know

hey, i'm getting the same thing w/ my HVX...i have a tape i shot 30 fps in what i thought was the same format as all my others (i was doing a long shoot and just switched tapes in w/o changing any settings)

all the other tapes from the day will play and they even play on a GS-500 but this one has the Astrix next to the TC on the HVX and when i put it in the GS-500 it reads "Wrong Tape Format" I know that the GS's manual says this means it was shot in PAL but how?! i shot it on my HVX...is there anyway i can get this footage???
