Problem with capturing red on dvx footage??

Is there anyway to fix the interlacing that occurs when I capture red images with my dvx???

Yes- don't capture them.

Red is handled very poorly by the DV compression. Try a search here for "reds" (the search engine throws out any word with 3 letters or less.) Turning down the chroma setting in camera can help, as can a 4:1:1 color smoothing filter or chroma blur filter in post. There was also a problem with one of the Quicktime updates that seemed to massacre reds into big lego chunks.

WHYYYYY i love reds....well, it looks like i will be using the change color filter a lot in post.

I avoid bright colors (especially red) like the plague and set the CHROMA LEVEL to -3 just in case. Like Semila58 said, DV doesn't like bright colors; they tend to smear. Just one of those things you have to consider when setting up a shot, I guess.
