does anyone have this issue with D800?

i have a smallHD connected to my D800, but the HDMI port on the D800 is very touchy. if i accidently touch the HDMI port connection at the camera, it will loose the sync to the monitor.

first i thought it was the monitor or cable, but i finally realized the issue is with the D800 port, i tried different cables wth the same result, so i know its not cables.

does this occur on other D800s? as my camera is still under warranty.

thanks in advanced.

One of the first HDMI cables (a Pearstone) I bought for my D800 had this problem quite severely. The other was a (longer) Xtreme, and it was fine. So I replaced the Pearstone with a (shorter) Xtreme, and it's also fine. Not like you can't knock it out of course, HDMI being one of your totally non-professional type designs, but it can be moved a little and stay solidly connected unlike the Pearstone which went intermittent if you breathed on it. Think I'm gonna pick up another even shorter Xtreme when I visit B&H for some Xmas shopping tomorrow.

I use a small velcro strip attached a few inches from the connector to secure the cable to something nearby (tripod, rail, etc.). Seems to prevent almost all mishaps.

YMMV...

you have to use some kind of "port lock" on the d800 end. I use the redrock blue ultra-cage with the port adapter. Never had a problem with that.

Mexicans use baling wire, we PruneTuckians are modern, we use Duct tape.

Actually never had a problem with my D800.
I have a HDMI monitor attached to my TriPod
The short cable is coiled up to the Camera which swivels to follow 360 degree action
without pulling out or loosing connection..
