Problem using my Small HD monitor with 24psf and nano flash

Hey,

So I'm having some problems using my small HD monitor with the AF-100 and my nano. The problem is, in order to record 24p to my nano I am using 1080/24p in the scene file and 24psf in the av/inout menu. The small HD doesnt seem to be able to handle the psf signal, neither from the camera hdmi or from the hdmi out on the nano. Has anyone else been dealing with this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

When you enable 24PsF, the HDMI output on the camera is disabled.

I don't know if the Nano can pass a 24PsF signal over to HDMI, so that may be why you're not getting an HDMI signal out of the Nano.

If you want to use the HD-SDI 24PsF feature, you pretty much have to be using an HD-SDI monitor.

After reading this thread, I did a little research and came across this in the nanoflash FAQ:

"15.Can nanoFlash be used as an HD/SD-SDI → HDMI or HDMI → HD/SD-SDI converter?
Yes, this capability is inherent in the design. Both outputs are live, even when the nanoFlash is not in record mode."

and this:

"17.Can nanoFlash remove the pull-down (inverse telecine) and record in 1080p24/ 23.98?
Yes, assuming the 1080i59.94 input was created using a 23.98p frame rate, and then the nanoFlash can remove the extra frames and record at the 23.98p frame rate. Both 2:3:2:3 and 2:3:3:2 cadences are supported with either HD-SDI or HDMI input.
This feature is enabled by selecting the 3:2 Removal in the menu. Note that the video format “1080pd23.9” will be displayed on the LCD screen."

Have you tried enabling the 3:2 Removal on the nanoflash?

I'm interested in this issue, as I'm planning on using a similar setup.

I think the problem is the Small HD monitor cant read the 24PsF signal, but the nano can pass it out I believe

I did try to use the 3:2 removal on the nano and it wasn't receiving a source. Barry can the Af-100 output with pulldown?

I will check my small hd and see if it works with 24 SpF. If it doesn't work I bet small hd can fix it by firmware.

I tried everyhthing earlier today and could get a signal on my small hd. I'll have to get on their case to see if they can do something about it, it's really hurting my shooting style

If your SmallHD is HDMI-only, then turn off the HD-SDI. That will guarantee the HDMI is active.

HDMI is active unless HD-SDI is turned on and the LCD panel is open. Or, if SDI 24PsF is turned on.

This is a DP1-B correct? I have opened a support case and passed your info to engineering. They suggested we send you a Mimi-HDMI splitter that MAY standardize the signal enough to allow the DP1 to process it. Please respond to the Support Case and let us know how you would like to proceed.
