Problem shooting through haze

Guys,

I've been having some issues while shooting through haze. I use a Ursa Mini 4.6k and I've tried with several lenses (I must say I never tried it without the IR cut filter in front of the lens). Whenever I'm shooting against light coming through haze, all i get is a big white blur. If I close the lens or add nd filtering, by the time I can actually see anything, the footage is underexposed. It goes from white overexposed blur to underexposed in a single stop. Anyone experienced this? Could it be the IR cut filter bouncing light?

Thanks

A UV filter should help. A little. IR cut won't help you there. Shooting Ektachrome color infrared and flying at 10,000 feet near Kitt Peak observatory many years ago it cut through the haze like butter and you could see detail at the horizon 100+ miles distant. Monochrome with a red filter might be worth a shot.

Haze scatters light every which way, which is why it's hazy. Polarization lets only (more or less) parallel light through, cutting the effect of the haze. Of course, also cutting exposure as a result.
