problem making dvd from "squeeze" shot film

I shot my film in squeeze mode and I'm using Final Cut Express to edit it. The problem I'm having is, when I export (using Quicktime movie conversion) and then I put the file it creates in idvd it makes the image look like a 4:3 image only distorted, so it looks too tall. When I export to quicktime movie it comes out perfect but if I try to put that file in idvd it does the same distortion thing. What settings do I need to use to make it look right?
 
Unfortunately iDVD has a problem reading the 16:9 flags in NTSC resolution files. Export it as something like 853x480 and it will work. You're kind of out of luck otherwise.
