problem: incomplete files, not spanned

Okay, after shooting some footage today, -- one take, 20 minutes, -- I write-protect my P2 cards, plug in USB cable, turn on camera, and start up FCP's log and transfer. What happens is I get 3 separate files, first two of which say 4 min + 55 seconds, the third 2 minutes, and all that say incomplete. The last one IS incomplete, leaving off about 8 minutes of footage at the end.

I turn everything off, try again, and this time the files span into a single file and is complete.

What went wrong the first time? Anybody know?
 
If the card was write-protected the entire time, then it must be a software problem, either in the P2 driver or in FCP. Did you happen to try browsing the card contents using P2CMS before the problem corrected itself?
