Problem: hpx170 camera signal cuts out?

Hey guys,

Just got a new Manhattan LCD screen which I hooked up to my HPX170 via Component Cable. When I run color bars or playback clips, everything works currently. I move the camera around on my tripod just to make sure everything is secure and it all works out great.

But when i have the regular camera signal (for recording) on, and I pan or tilt the camera, the signal cuts in and out. I switch on the color bars or go to clip viewing mode and low and behold the monitor works again.

What's going on? I know its not the monitor and I have made sure the cable is as secure as I can get it. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.

i had a similar problem with an ikan monitor i used to have. they said it had something to do with the display switching off if the image exposure dropped below a certain level.

i have also heard of some monitors having a problem displaying a progressive image

Well that's the other thing, the signals that go to the monitor are 480i and 1080i or AUTO (from the HPX170 menu). Im trying to film in 720p mode.

FIXED!

Turns out the monitor goes out if my image is too over exposed. I was filming my living room and when i point the camera at the window, the Manhattan LCD cuts the signal on account there is too much light. Once I stop down or use an ND filter, everything is alright.

*phew crisis averted!
