Problem: how to attach top handle

Hi!

I'm in Japan and just bought a HMC-45.
Very nice small cam, but got one big pain in th a*s issue:

I simply can't attach the top handle! :(

Should I unscrew that little metal blade that's supposed to fit in the accessory shoe?
Looks like the problem comes from this part, but I don't want to unscrew anything without being sure I'm not making things worse.

Make sure you pull the optical view finder out as far as possible (away from the body of the cam), then slide the handle into the metal shoe. No unscrewing necessary.
