I did a search but did not find anything.
Some files do not play. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have the camera since July and three files do not play. One of them played and suddenly stopped.
Thank you

some of my files dont play back native on certain players but it will always play back on premiere. sounds like your viewing raw files on a player thats not 100% codec compatible with AVCHD

yep some do not play with VLC for me either. it does not mean they are corrupt or anything. re-encode them if you want to watch them on VLC but if you are doing that you may as well edit them=)

vlc is kahlah for watching gh1 files they look good awful... I was a nervous wreck when I first saw my footage in vlc.

So what do you suggest for viewing? (I have a macbook)

Included in Toast is a very good video player for AVCHD files. Which I use for quick views and take selection prior to transcoding.

It's hidden within the application pack so you'll have to use right-click on Toast > Show Package Contents
and then find it, make a alias of it and place in the Dock. Same player also sold by Elgato and comes with their TV and video digitizing hardware.

+1 for the Toast Player for a quick preview of AVCHD files. And note that Toast doesn't require the entire PRIVATE folder structure; only the MTS files.

Also have used Toast to select only portions of a clip for transcoding to ProRes. But there's no way to log and save what portion(s) of the clip you've selected. So if you ever need to re-transcode you have to go thru the whole selection process all over again -- major bummer.

Just thought I'd chime in for Windows, in case anybody it looking. I just found Splash Lite and it is GPU accelerated if your card supports it. It plays GH1 files back smoothly and beautifully even on my more limited machine.

The best part is it starts in 1 second. I double click the file and it's open, bam. Really recommend it so far.

Just installed Splash Lite on my 2006 Dell Inspiron 9400 2Ghz dual core laptop and it played the GH1 MTS video file on a smoothly but did skip the audio somewhat probably to keep the video playing smooth. Pretty impressive none the less so I'll probably start using this to quickly review GH1 video clips.

I have been using the player that comes with Edius Neo 2 Booster which skips the video a little bit but plays the audio back smoothly. There are adjustments you can make in the setup menu that can prioritize what you want it to do on slower PC's.
