Problem Capturing from DVX.

Ok I tried a ton of things and dont know what went wrong. What we did was shoot with the dvx in SCENE 5 and took the tape and tried to import using the DVX and a Sony Video Cassette Player. The Mini DV thing with the small 4" LCD on it. I tried with Avid Xpress Pro and it didn't find either the camera nor the player. I tried using Vegas 6 and didn't work at all that way either. Tried with Windows Movie Maker and it found the player but the imported footage came in staticy and pixellated and not viewable at all. It plays perfect on the player and the DVX btw. Now I tried using Final Cut Pro and it gave me problems saying the firewire wasn't found. And now i tried iMovie and it finally gave me some kind of error back. This is what it said :

"The camera is sending half sized frames, which iMovie cant accept. Check your cameras record mode. The mode must be SP or LP. If that doesn't help, try removing all the cables and batteries from the camera, wait a minute, replace them, and then reset the date, time and record mode.

I tried what it said, but that didn't work and just gave the error again. I dont know what to do besides dump the mini DV tape to a DVD and then import the footage that way but I dont know the best program to import the footage from dvd to the computer. HELP!!!!!!!!

Sounds like one of two things: either you shot in LP mode, or you have a bad piece of hardware somewhere along the way (probably the firewire cable, if that's the common component between all your scenarios).
