Probably another dumb question...ha ha

It is me once again...probably asking another dumb one. When I go to record, it comes up "external DV disconnected". I read through the trouble shooting stuff in the manual and went through the internal menu but cannot find anything. I hope we can figure this one out...again. Maybe my fluid has leaked out (ha ha) or cosmic dust.

Thanks!

DV Control - set to OFF

It's telling you the external DV device is disconnected because you have it set to EXT and do not have an external DV device hooked up through your firewire port.

I'm thinking of buying the 100A and I'm wondering when recording in 16:9 do you see a 16:9 image on the LCD screen or do you see the image squeezed? I know there are several 16:9 modes. Also, if you use a 16:9 widescreen adapter do you see the image squeezed. Thanks.

In Squeeze mode you see the image squeezed. With anamorphic (16:9) adapter you also see the image sqeezed, because it does the same thing as camera's Squeeze mode, only optically. It squeezes widescreen picture into your 4:3 CCDs/display.
Wow, I squeezed a lot of "squeeze"s in there...

Just to clarify - on the viewfinder/lcd screen, squeeze mode and the anamorphic adapter are going to *look* the same.
But as far as final image, the anamorphic adapter is a higher resolution by quite a bit (about 30% higher), because it's optically placing a widescreen image onto the full chips in your camera.
With squeeze, it takes a 16:9 image out of the full chip; just as it would in letterbox. (this is where you're losing resolution); but it then squeezes it to fit the screen.

Thanks for the info. When you're seeing this squeezed image in the viewfinder are you seeing the entire recorded image? It seems akward for framing your shot.
