Hi there,

Wondering about peoples experiences with promist filters and the dvx100. Anyone using them for broadcast and/or film transfer end products? What number are they? Does anyone have online side-by-side comparisons of with and without promist filters in various lighting situations with the dvx100?

Also, how can the dvx100 handle blow-out / over exposure of windows etc?

Thanks for any info,
Dale

Re: Pro Mist samples

heres some comparitive images of the filters on or off, although not with the dvx100, the results will be similar.

as for the dvx handleing blowout or over exposure, im not sure what you mean.. by definition once the image is blown out it is shown as pure white , and when overexposed, it is shown as anything from a milky white image to pure white.-pending the amount of overexposure.. i would take a look at the screen grab section of the forum for a wide variety of grabs or clips that will probably give you a good idea of how the dvx handles highlights and the lattitude between them and the point of blowing out. but keep in mind that not everyone posting there knows how to light a scene like rembrandt. really if you can light well, the dvx will perform beautifully well in the highlights ..the same as with anything else. but if your in uncontolled conditions, it seems to harshly clip the highlights to pure white when in cine-gamma mode if the levels get too high.

Thanks "loser" (although your input on the board makes you a winner),

Found some good stuff on promist and ultra cons in past posts. Good suggestion. However I did not find any comparisons for the dvx with any of these filters (other than what's on the Tiffen site), unless they were one of the wmv file I couldn't view on my mac. Any suggestions of where I could find some?

Also, any ideas what kind of diffusion used on West Wing and CSI?

Thanks again, Dale

Thanks all for the great info and links. Much appreciated.

Any takers on the West Wing / CSI question - any idea what diffusion they use?
