PRIVATE folder mishaps, help please.

So I dumped a whole card of files onto a drive, the whole private folder. But since I can not delete files within log and transfer in FCP, I dropped each into VLC to view then delete.
I also tried viewing them in AVCCAMVIEWER which is a god awful program.

Anyways, since I deleted some a MTS files from the 'stream' folder, when I load in 'log and transfer' it says some error (obviously the lame file structure has been damaged by deleting a few MTS files)....so I tried deleting the clip info file of the same number as the clip, still wont load in log and transfer.

So, I am screwed right?
going to have to transcode in toast now vs FCP.

I hate this file format saga.

The file folder structure has to be exactly like it came out of the camera.

The same thing happened to us when the editor just thought he could delete a few clips to save space. You can transcode it with toast or even Premier to get it into FCP.

Transcoding has its benefits anyways, not like you are screwed.

Yup you are!!!... but toast is not really too bad. Next time you want to delete a clip, do it on the camera!
I feel your pain, i also wish you could "log and transfer" from the stream folder and skip the private one, and even delete clips like you did!... Maybe one day!

Or use premiere like MadHMC150!

Premier is an option on Mac - to work with the native files... I use Vegas and the other editor uses FCP... Somehow I drifted away from Premier years ago.

You know after burning a few Blu-rays you start to understand why ACVHD works the way it does - its not soooo bad. There is a learning curve but its well discussed here, heh.
