Pricedrop on Odyssey 7Q on Facebook rumors

Is that actually correct Sam? Wasn't the Odyssey bought out / conceived before the FS700 got its 4k RAW? I don't know, you may be right, just never thought of it as being that limited / targeted.

Of course it other attributes but the killer app. Is that it was part of the only sub $10k raw system (excluding feature stripped bmc cams)

Its a nice thing but the main purpose/market is to 'fix' the FS700

Not really... seems like a pretty solid solution for a lot of RAW cameras and as a pretty unique multicam monitor/recorder once all the features are finally finished. I mean it seems way more convenient and inexpensive than a codex or kipro quad for alexa/c500 raw.

Indeed but I guess FS700 outsold the C500 10:1 and the Alexa people, well who knows, most are happy with the onboard codecs?

I wouldn't care much about the price drop. Like someone here said it's a day or two pay as an op, and I've had it for a year. But what is frustrating is I've had it a year and still no 4k ProRes!

Also of course the announcement of the Atomos Shogun supporting FS700 raw in the future gives them competition from a cheaper device that although more limited offer much cheaper recording media as well.

They probably had to lower the price to stay competive.

.

Absolutely right on! It wouldn't surprise me, at all, to learn that CD's marketing philosophy is to provide cutting edge technology development at a higher price, capitalizing on pre-empting similar solutions coming down the pike. Just sayin'...I don't have any more insider info than anyone else. But, i can read tealeaves :-P This has been their history, for anyone who has followed this company. And the most painful observation to accept is that they will discontinue development for legacy products within months of announcing a new state of the art product. No slander or slam...it's one business model that works because there will always be the geeks and tekkies who want the lastest and greatest, no matter what the price of entry is. The best I can do is be a wise buyer; and remember who did what in the past.

does it work with red raw and canon raw from ML??

If they could make it work with A7S 4K I would buy one today...

No point being bitter, you should have seen this coming with the announcement of the Shogun. This kind of thing happens all the time with the camera/gear market. Just be happy you weren't a Red Epic or Red One owner circa November 2012.

All you sony users have no *****, you paid half of what c500 users paid and got your updates first. As you notice even though you have to wait longer for the 4k prores you will get it long before c500 owners. I love the monitor and wish that CD would learn to not announce things till they are ready.

I think the price drop is because there is going to be a new version for gh4 and a7s, I don't think an upgrade is possible or in the works.

I really want to buy 4 more of them, but want to know what the hdmi 4k deal is going to be. At the new price it is simply the best monitor in the world. I really hope they get things together so that we have a long lasting product with many years of use and service.
