Price standard on a 100a in 2009

A friend of mine is trying to sell his 100a... I believe it has about 40 hours on it and is in perfect working order. But I know with all the new HD advancements and equipment, I was curious how much the price for a used/new dvx100a has dropped.

It just makes me a bit curious... expecially because a few of my other friends are interested in purchasing it, but say his price is way too high. I would a grand or less be an appropiate price now?
 
He's trying to sell it for 16. I told him the best he could do is 12-14 (but of course, shoot for what you want.. you never know!!!). But some of the students interested said they found them for $999 elsewhere...new? This kind of bothers me because I own a 100b. Are Dvx users jumping ship for HD?

Buying a new DVX100B in Toronto today will cost you about $4199 (!), which is up from $2799 in December (prices per Vistek, our version of B & H). Panasonic Canada has apparently been very busy raising the prices on all of their pro gear in Canada.
 
with 40 hours you should be able to get atleast 2000 for it. Anything over 150 should be around there.

JUMPING JESUS!!! I looked at DVshop today and the price is over 3500$ canadian!!! This is just insane. Its almost as if the DVX is a new camera just coming out!

I'm in toronto, and i got mine used locally for 1600 in december. Cheapest i could find for one in mint condition. I totally agree that 4100 is a big ripoff though.
