Price reduction on Sony AX100

In case anyone is interested, there is a (I believe new) $200 price reduction on the AX100 (at least over at B&H).

Probably because the price on the upcoming X70 is listed at 2299 and no one would buy the AX100 if it stayed at 2K.

If you're in that prosumer market, the Panasonic DMC FZ1000 is a better camera than the AX100. Same chip with GH4 processor.

The little AX100 just got a firmware update adding 100Mbps for 4K and a few improvements...
This utility updates the system firmware and provides the following benefits: Improvements over previous versions:

  • Adds XAVC S 4K 100Mbps
  • Adds capability to capture still pictures from video contents shot by XAVC S
  • Improves trimming playback
  • Improves auto focus performance
    • Focus tracking performance on a person

Some footage I shot with it on Saturday... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuerQys4xzc

Have any interior/low light footage with the 4K 100Mbp update? On your own edit system, how much difference are you seeing across bit rates and formats? Thanks.

None yet.. I'll be shooting more with it this weekend and keep you posted. Editing is the same as the 60Mbps footage in Premiere CC.. realtime on my PC.

I mean quality difference..some have suggested certain Sony cams implementation of prop codec gives no quality advantage.
