Price on Sony F5 and F55 After the Red Price Drop

Just think the evf will be closer to the rumored 2k price... primes not sure on yet... like I posted at 28k would you go for the Sony primes, CP2's or like I said if Canon added 3 more primes they seem to average out at 5k each so $30,000 for the 1.5 stop... and hoping that the bodies will be lower also...

I would not jump to conclusions on US pricing based on these figures. Not only are we dealing with a different market, the Japanese but some of these figures are completely out of reality.

You're right, and that's where I was talking about at the end of my post whether Sony USA will be adjusting prices further for exchange rates, market, etc. They seem to do that, USA pricing is never just Japanese price converted over.

In short, right now, current F3 pricing vs the 2010 Japanese press release:

Japanese MSRP x.83 = Japanese Street Price

Japanese Street Price x.89 = US Street price

Again though, not gospel by a long shot despite my fancy numbers. But this is what they've done before, and doing currently.

Well without an EF-mount camera to use them on, I'd probably avoid the Canon lenses. The Sony's do offer a constant aperture (including a fast wide) which is one better than the CP2s can match.

Also wasn't there something about the CPs not being totally consistent through all the lens sizes in terms of color and contrast? Although that aperture thing the CPs got going is really really dumb, along with them being rehoused still glass. Might as well have Duclos mod a set of ZFs instead.

CVP is pricing the Sony Primes at 12.000 dollars no vat for a set of 35, 50 and 80mm, then just buy the 20mm on the side and you've got a decent set consistent all the way. They are not that much more pricey than the CPs.

If there's an issue with them matching I'm yet to see it (I've got a 6-lens set of CP.2s), they intercut seamlessly to my eyes. Some people made a fuss about them being just 'colour matched', as apposed to 'super-colour matched' with the Ultra and Master Primes - but there's a reason those lenses cost more. CP.2s are in a whole other ballpark compared to still lenses though - which is why I made the investment.

CP.2s also have the 14 blade aperture, which does render bokeh noticably nicer than less-bladed lenses (the new Sony's are 9 blade I believe).

The issue remains though that Zeiss's offerings only goes to 25mm @ T/2.1. They need a wide-wide (say 17-18mm T/2.1) to properly round out the set. At that point I don't think people would find much to complain about given the lenses price-performance).
