Just popped along to B&H Photovideo and while there noticed that the listed price for the HPX250 was $4995. Am sure until recently it was $4495. Can anyone confirm? and if so whats going on?

Also they list 2 HPX250's one at $4995 and the other at $5495..... I can't see any difference apart from the price.

Well here is what I can see. At the bottom on says PAL and the other nothing. Here are the different models types
"HPX250 " (Japan model)
"HPX250EJ " (Europe model)
"HPX250EN " (Asia/Australia model)
"HPX250P or PJ " (North & South America model)
"HPX250MC " (China model)

After looking I cant really tell as one model is

$54995.00 B&H # PAAGHPX250 = Mfr# AGHPX250PJ
and the other
  • $4995.00 B&H # PAAGHPX250P = Mfr# AG-HPX250E

Would like to know also what the difference is as I cant really tell. My guess is one has a Warranty for a certain country but thats just a guess. Also one is free shipping and one is not.

I noticed the price increase as well. I try to check the price on the hpx250, ac160a and hmc150 every few days. I was glad when it dropped but then surprised when it went back up. Don't know why!? I hope it drops again.

Few weeks back the price was 4495.00. No rush on buying it. I'm sure around the September the price will drop again since few other cameras are coming to town. Also there maybe new revision, HPX250A with all the focus hardware fixes. Just my two cents.

My best guess is since they advertised that the cameras were being used to film the Olympics, perhaps they could boost the price a little on the off chance someone wanted one of those cameras used to shoot the Olympics.

Just curious, what other cameras are coming into town?

I wonder if there'll indeed be an HPX250A or HPX250B anytime soon... The 250 just started shipping last September, after all. And Panasonic has proven that they're in no rush to update the AF100.

I thought there'll be the HPX255 w/ the CCU control and HPX250 will slowly be gearing toward the HPX255. I recall back last year, the HPX250 ~$6.5K range. Panasonic does this to their 2/3" market as well. For instance, the HPX3100 was listed $19,995 and over a year it creeps up to $21,110. So it's normal for their 1/3" cam to fluctuate based on the supply and demand.

The list price of the camera hasn't changed, the street price has. That's probably due to availability and demand.

I noticed yesterday it went up an additional $100 too, until you add it to your cart. $5595 vs the $5495 it was a day earlier and $4495 it was a while back

This is killing me as I am about to buy one of these.
Man, I could use that $1000 to buy some more lights..or cards..or batteries..or, or, or...
such is the life of a video guy

I know HPX255 is right around the corner as we as Sony new 3 half inch sensor camera to hit the market in September

It would be cheaper to rent one for now till the price drops when the competitors are in town. Just my two cents.
