Price for first generation DVX100?

Hi I'm looking to sell my first generation DVX100 - not an A or B - and was looking for input as to what a fair price is? Any input to the going rate would be much appreciated.

Camera history:

I am the only owner and have taken good care of the camera - it has 322 hours on the heads - heads were serviced last at 280 hours - camera is in good, well maintained condition - no history of any technical problems - camera functions perfectly, cosmetically camera is in great shape - lcd and viewfinder in perfect shape.

I realize that a lot of sales are contingent on extra - I have only the camera and 4 batteries to offer

Thanks in advance

I think around $1400-1500 would be fair.

Sounds right to me... but then again the new DVX's just came down in price. I'd set it at $1500 and settle somewhere around $1200+...

i agree with brown since the price drop of a new 100B is down it should reflect in used prices as well

Amazingly there are people who still pay $2000 for the original DVX100, based on a quick review of eBay completed auctions this week. Seems like those cameras usually have fewer than 20 hours on the heads. But, even well used cameras rarely dip below the $1600 mark. If you list at $1500 it'll be gone in under a week, possibly under 24 hours. You could get more $$ if you're willing to wait for supply to dry up and find a motivated buyer who needs a camera NOW.

Pricing is a funny thing, tho. Because if the price is too high, no-one is interested and you're stuck dealing with low ball offers. But, if it is too low, it seems suspicious. I actually passed on an original DVX100 for 1455.00 last week on an eBay fixed price auction because I thought something must be wrong at that price. Other buyers evidently thought the same, because it sat on eBay for two days with zero interest. Only when the seller increased the price to $1600.00 did it actually generate interest. It sold within 15 minutes of the price increase. I was mad because I would have bought it for the higher price!

You mentioned the heads were serviced at 280 hours. Was this a routine maintenence thing or was their an issue? I have the original DVX since 2003 and mine is great condition with only 174 hours on the heads. Do I need to be getting mine serviced every so many hours or something? I am not experiencing any issues with my camera though.

No issues, routine maintenance. I have two DVX100 that both had 200 + hours on the heads and after reading this thread:

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=6888&highlight=head+cleaning

I thought it was time to take them in - so I had them both serviced at the same time. I think this is wise even if you are not experiencing any issues.

Always run only the AYDVM63MQ tape stock

Other threads have mentioned 100 - 150 hours is a reasonable amount of time to go between service.

Thanks for all the input on current market value for the camera - super helpful

I'm an amatuer... and looking into DVX100A's... but now people are saying the 100B's are coming down in price (But still about $2,000 more than the first generation)

So my question is...
What is the difference in the first generation? Just older? Or can you get the same film look in the first generation? Also... I am buying used, typically how long do these things last?
