Hey Guys,

Did the price go down on the dvx by $300.00? I went to a couple of sites in Toronto and noticed. If so thats great.

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

Retail price hasn't changed. B&H's price hasn't changed. Some sellers may be choosing to lower their prices, but there has been no price drop from Panasonic.

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

Interesting because reputable licensed companies like BH buy this camera for about $300 less than they sell it. What's that say about others that have gray market stuff? Does it matter that companies sell gray market?

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

The gray market is dependent on currency fluctuations. Gray market cameras do not carry a warranty in the US. A friend of mine bought his from CCI Camera City, thinking he got a "great deal", until his tape transport jammed. The repair was $1500. Would have been covered under warranty had he bought from an authorized dealer.

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

i guess panasonic will wait until the feel a drop in demand due to the new Sony. the XL2 probably did not hurt them at all. as long as demand is up the price stays up. maybe some dealers get cold feet, but panasonic has a long breath with the DVX. it is still unbeaten in SD and with HDV being a project still the DVX holds strong. next year maybe.... :-[

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

I just got mine in Toronto at Vistek for 4,700.......their sticker price was 4,999........Henry's sticker price is still 5,299 as of this week....
by the way, it you're a new dvx-er in Toronto why not drop me a line, maybe we can trade being 2nd camera for each other on some projects. Stan the music man www.summitstudios.info

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

The DVX is still selling strong according to local stores hear in LA because it is a good product.. Gray market cameras are like buying it from a dude in the alleyway from the back end of his car..No Warranty because it is most likely hot or refurbed to be sold as new.. NO win/win. Just get it from a reputable and authorized dealer. Beside anything you buy for your business is tax deductable anyways so you will get your money back..unless you are in a starving state.

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

There's been a £200 price drop here in the UK (but in rip-off Britain, it's still very expensive!)

Re: Price Drop on DVX?

The oone factor not being considered is that the US dollar is sinking, make it cheaper for us out of towners,.

Re: Price Drop on DVX?
