Price Drop? $5099

its $5099 at EVS

Thats a steep pricedrop for a hot new cam - maybe SSE is driving the sales down.

Also my local camera store has promised a steep discount which they cant advertise...

anyone know
1) if the latest batch is SSE free (according to some)
2) if JVC is coming up with additional lenses (other than the $13K wide)
3) HD100 killer coming soon.

From $6250-->$5000 in 3 months?!

#1 no idea. but many users don't find SSE to be a problem.
#2 Fujinon has another lens, which will probably be offered as a stock lens from JVC, but with a price increase. the included $800 lens has a number of issues and the new lens should help a ton with the elimination of the SSE.
#3 Yes - They deny it, but I have a "hunch" that JVC will lay low for the next couple of months, then announce a "new" HD100 with the "new" Fujinon lens package around NAB.

my two cents.

FWIW- B and H had it listed at $5499 right out of the gate (street price). $6250 is full retail and it hadn't been listed at that price, had it?

BTW: B and H list it at $4995 now and yes it is $500 less than it was in the first part of October.

My experience tells me that when a camera drops in price dramatically that two things are happening. (that is if in fact this rumored price drop is occuring)

1.) the line is going to be discontinued. 2.) a new version (similiar to the current model) will be introduced in the near future. This is the trend that I have noticed in the past. This is nothing more than an observation.

If the price has indeed dropped, users who have purchased the camera in the last 30 days could be eligible for any price protection benefits that many dealers provide in order to remain competative.

I believe thats a floor demo unit.
Nope, that's their price for brand new ones too. Click on "email me a price" and they'll send you the e-mail that says brand-new units are $4999.95.

This is perfectly normal actually. Every camera drops the price after it has supplied the initial demand. It's just normal capitalism and is actually true to any thing for sale. It may also be a sales strategy because the new Canon and HVX200 are coming now in December.
.It’s been said a hundred times there’s not a new model coming out. A JVC rep even posted here saying as much. Anybody who knows anything about the industrial development of goods, specially electronics and specially a camera like the HD100, will tell you no company will put a new model out till they have at least recuperated their R&D investment on the current model. NAB would be way to early. Maybe 2007 NAB.

Just so you know, the street price has dropped but the cost has not. There is no new or updated camera coming.
