hey everyone im curious, is $4800 a good price for a mint condition ex1? or should i wait for the ex1r to come out in december?

That's a good question--

Unless you are going to be using the camera for a legit job, or shoot, or have an immedate use for the camera, I would hold off until all the information and pricing comes out on the EXR1.

You may be disappointed/(or happy) if you purchased the camera now, didn't really use it that much, then realized the better deal was out there.

But yeah, im not sure what else is in that deal, but your also going to have spend a bunch more money on accessories. So I would again say, if you know your going to be using it alot/need that camera before the time the EXR1 is out, go for it.

you didnt really use the ex1 that much? what better deal?

Yea I am an independent filmmaker or in the process of being one so that is what i need the camera for.

I may win a brand new EX1 at the end of November. I will be selling it for 5,500.00 or so. If the ex1 youare buying was produced in the last year, and has the latest firmware - it's a good deal. If it's a first-run model that just hasn't been used much it is not too great a deal. There are issues with early model EX1s.

Wait what? Better deal as: in 3 months from now, you may have realized you want all the features of the EXR1, or come across more money to spend-- and are kinda pissed that you didn't wait to spend the extra money on it (exr1). So is it money that the issue in buying the camera, or the new features in the ex1r, gotta figure out what's most important.

And- Exactly. Filmmaking takes planning, (unless it's used for improv shoots) and even if it's 3 hours or 3 weeks of planning a shoot, job, ect w/e. Unless you kinda know your going to be using the camera alot, (more or less for jobs if you planned on making the money back on it) you may want to wait to test out the new camera, if your interested in the new features.
