The more I've been looking into this, it seems silly to purchase a 1000$ 8" LCD for focus assist and framing. I've been looking and found many 15" -19" "LCDTVs" which offer 720P resolution at a sub 200$ price tag.... The new problem now is, how do I power this off of a battery for portability.

I suppose mounting on the camera might be kind of cumbersome, but I'm sure the brains on the internet could find some solution for this.

Something like this:

May do the trick but it may take some adapting. Any opinions on this?

thats WAY to big to "mount" to a camera. and there is almost no way to be mobile with it.

trying to mount a 15"-19" tv on an hvx is completely ridiculous. Put it on set, sure...but not on the camera. Maybe on a c-stand beside the camera.

The new problem now is, how do I power this off of a battery for portability.
That's why there is a market for the $1000+ 8" monitors. Small and battery powered.

have you looked into the "smallhd" product. less than a grand (just barely) and very much worth the money.

you can also pick up a used ikan 8000hd for about $500 here and there. not good for color reference, but frame and focus its great.
