Pretty Cool Music Vid

... not mine, I found it on the AF100 group on Vimeo.

It's all narrative, no performance:

The DP did a writeup including on using an upside down monopod for a low-mode steadicam.

It was fairly heavily graded by the director and DP and held up well.
The video was shot in 2.35:1 with Zeiss Superspeeds and uses a lot of 60fps.

It was shot in early January and just released at the end of April.

Simply gorgeous, isn't it? And nothing more than a flex-fill on location exteriors!!!

I wonder if it's the settings, the grading, or equal measures of both?

Strangest thing in his article was saying there was noise at ISO 400 and up, so he tried to stay at 200.

Ya, great composition and proper use of of available light go miles. This looks mega budget and isn't at all.

I actually don't find the bit about noise unbelievable. Remember when the cams first came out and people were going nuts about noise? I am willing to bet they didn't have solid settings yet, as they said this was shot in January.

this was really tight. surprised he said the camera doesn't do good in low light. thought that was one of the cam's strong points.

frustrated cinematographer having to do a music video. great visuals ... but one of the most disconnected
music videos i've ever seen.

Jesus... how do you shoot something like that.. Absolutely brilliant. Art direction goes such a long way with great cinematography. Oh, and slow motion helps too :)

Also, what does he mean by power windows?

I hope you guys checked out the newer video from the same user (Young Replicant). I think it's even better.

I think Young Replicant is the team of directors, Alex Takacs and Joe Nankin, and the new video has a different DP and no mention of what camera was used.

But definitely more use of perfect locations, great costumes and awsome photography! Killer stuff, and both vids are getting 1000+ views a day!
