Prep time before shooting a feature

I am hoping to shoot my feature in July, basically pretty set on it, but we're still not off the ground yet on pre-production formally. I need to attach a producer fast because I only have about 4 months left then, a little bit more, and I don't think we can get by on less time than that. I've spent the past many months rewriting the script, we're probably on draft 12 to 14 by this point I would imagine, so it has really rounded into form, it's been worth it, because it's a totally different film than it was when I wrote a rough draft, which was admittedly rougher than I wanted it.

I think it's a very good script now, and I wanted to be fully happy with it before we started pre-production in earnest, but I was hoping to have a producer by now. I have to start aggressively looking for one now.

I'm sure the script will be tweaked in the coming months, but at this point I suspect that will be dialogue and minor alterations, not actual scenes being deleted or added, so that is why I wanted to get it to this point, so we knew what locations we need, what characters, how long we need actors for, etc.

I am partnered with another production company now and we're entering pre-production, but moved up the shoot target to June, just depending on whether we can pull it off or not. These guys are highly professional, though, it's an easy project by their standards so I think we can make it happen. Got two months to prep, maybe 10 weeks, then hopefully we can be shooting my first feature! Yay.
