premiere vs fcp

My boss thinks macs are a ripoff, so at my day job we use PC's. At home I own a macbook. So I've started working with Premiere Pro on both. Previous to owning my macbook I was a PC user and Vegas editor for years. Premiere lets me edit the same on both PC and mac. Now if I need to take work home I can.

I've actually been getting used to Premiere and really enjoying it. Just today I installed neoscene on my macbook and I'm thrilled the output footage can playback in realtime on my timeline now. That was the only complaint I had remaining about premiere.

It doesn't make sense for me to use FCP. Although I would like to learn it.

I have a workstation and a laptop that score about a 7.2 out of a max possible 7.9 in the windows 7 64 bit speed rating. I find that Edius 6 smashes Premiere in smoothness and functional layout... Premiere clunks still on my machine when editing native sometimes and sadly so does Sony Vegas 10 still, but it is the best encoder. It seems just 'off' to me how Premiere has things laid out. Sometimes I am so used to how easy it is to find things in Edius & Vegas that I want to do a simple thing in Premiere because I want to use after effects or something and I'm just frikken LOST... but that's just me.

After editing a project this weekend with Premiere Pro, I think I'll stay with FCP! I like Premiere but I think, for me, FCP is more efficient.
