PP 2.0 or Vegas 6 +dvd production suite?? both are about 300 w/academic pricing, vegas seems to have a MUCH higher retail cost...i have no experience with either

movies will primarily be action sports...snowboarding and skateboarding - if that makes a difference

PC is a Vaio FS 640w

any thoughts on which program would be better suited to a beginner, and these types of films?

thanks

start by downloading the trial version of Vegas. That's what I did, and I've been on it since. Easy to use, for the most part. There's a learning curve no matter which way you go.

i tried installing the vegas demo and it said i need microsoft .net framework 1.1 service pack 1

when i go to put that on the PC i get a box telling me that it (.net framework) cannot be installed due to one or more "hot-fixes" installed and to remove and try again

anyone know what to do???

oh go to Add remove programs, and the hot fix is there. you will see it. It says (hotfix) Microsoft Framework 1.1

Just uninstall and install the other. My aunts Viao did that too.

I prefer Vegas Btw, its very good, and very reliable.

awesome - thanks Timur...it worked!!

thartley: did you just buy vegas after it ran out or did you find a partial version demo of it that doesn't run out in 30 days??

how the hell do you use this sucker? i can't even figure out how to pull clips out of the imported video....

*feels like riding the short bus*

um hold down the left mouse button on the clip and drag it to the timeline? Vegas is seriously the easiest laid out editor I've ever used... I learned on Final Cut and Avid, and eventually ran with Premiere for several years until I discovered vegas and am hooked on it's quality and functionality
