Premiere Pro CS4 New Features - Info Request

... so my question is -- if you want to edit AVCHD 1080p/24, do you have to select 60i for the project and then check "Remove 24p DV Pulldown" for the footage or is there a setting for editing AVCHD at 1080p/24 in a 24p timeline?

Thanks!

CS4 has a preset for 1080/24p under AVCHD.

Cool, then maybe the picture I saw was just strange. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Have you used Premiere CS4 for any long form stuff yet? I know it's really soon, so I doubt it but I was wondering about its stability. A lot of editing apps fall apart when doing long form - features, full docs, etc - and I was wondering how it's performance is.

With Vegas, all I had to do was limit my sequences to 10-15 mins and then nest them all in a master sequence but with Premiere, your project has all your sequences so there is no "workaround" that I know of. Maybe limiting the sequences might work but I fear that it will create a LARGER project being that there are MORE sequences and therefor, decreasing stability.

Any thoughts/tips on this?

Does anyone have an answer for this yet?

Will PPro CS4 allow pulldown removal for HV20 footage?

I saw something on the Adobe.com forum that suggested that in CS4 users will be able to mix and match different media types (e.g., P2 and HDV) on the same timeline.

That got me hoping that they've incorporated an After-Effects style "Interpret Footage" cammand that allows us to easily configure pulldown removal for a variety of cadences, or even "guess pulldown."

The HV20 is a fun little camera but right now there's not easy way to use it in Premiere except to remove the pulldown in another program, transcode, and import those files into Premiere.

Would it be possible to include a request for 20-1 rendering speed?

People who hate waiting rooms would never take to Video Editing and waiting....arrrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I also heard with the last upgrade you may import Final Cut projects. Does anyone has experience with this? Is possible too to export back to Final Cut?

Whats the deal with setting up proxies in cs4? From a few forums I've heard its not possible as a direct proxy, but some guys are doing batch compressions on files and then using the "replace clip" feature.

Anyone have any input on that?

CS4 doesn't do it automatically anymore. You have to 'interpret footage' f

It will in the next update. But even then, it won't have flags to look at (since the HV20 doesn't put flags on the interlaced frames) so it wont know which frames to remove in order to make it true 24p.

On another note, does anyone know when AVC-Intra will be supported and what AVC-Intra formats will be supported?

Can't wait for the 24pa update. I just started using PP CS3 and I love it. I will be getting CS4 within the month.

Hey all;
after all reading this posts i install the cs4 somehow:/I also updated to 4.0.1 but premiere pro always crashes, others are seems working well, when i import P2 file in premiere,it crashes, when try to go to file it crashes,it crashes and crashes again, and the way of crash is not freezing, the premiere suddenly disappear and gone away..Is it because of the software
is too young,or because of my labtop is too slow?I just have 1gb ram and 1.6ghz cpu:(

thanks in advance

Are those new requirements Paul or has it always been like that? Just cuirous.

I don't remember what the requirements for CS3 were but I'm sure it's the same or very similar. I ran 2GB for a long time up until last week when I upgraded to 4GB and I'm upgrading to 8 in the near future. 2GB will be ok I guess but you also need to upgrade your processor. I think if you have 2GB in your system, you're okay (not good, just ok) but you need a good processor.

I'm still on a dual core overclocked to 3.0GHz but I'm moving to a 2.5 Quad in the very near future, if not better.

Especially with all the support for RAM and processors that CS4 allows you to have, you might as well take advantage of it. Some processors and RAM are relatively cheap (Q9300 Quad core for $180 and RAM is like $50-$100 for 4GB of RAM).

On the Adobe CS4 update wishlist (soon please) is support for DVCPROHD through Dynamic Link to Encore. It's not like it's a real new codec! Encore cannot downscale DVCPRO HD to SD16:9 correctly via Dynamic Link. By all accounts it sees other HD sequences properly and downscales appropriately.
