Premiere Pro 2 announced - DVCPro-HD Support (with *)

What they mean, apparently, is a $7500 Matrox Axio card. And even then, I'm not quite sure how it would work, since the Axio doesn't support MXF importing and neither does PPro 2.0. So -- I guess you could capture live footage from the camera head, or maybe firewire?

I'm not sure it's the Axio (as that was my thought first) because I just saw the DVCPro-HD templates in the After Effects 7 preview movie. That make it looks some kind of DVCPro-HD support ships with AE 7 which should be the same set of codecs that Premiere Pro 2 ships with.

.I assume since Premiere has pulldown processing, 1080 24p would work

Hunted through stuff on site - it does have templates and support though it says for P2 and DVCPro-HD that "third party hardware may be required"

Not sure what exactly they mean, but my copy of Vegas may soon be on sale...

Might be an AJA Xena HS card? . . . I am guessing the presets in AE are only there for people that have figured out (or are willing to spend the money) in order to get the files into their computer with third party assistance. Kinda silly when you think about it . . . not like they haven't had time to address the issue--but then again no one considers Premier a professional solution anyhow. I've been using Premier, like forever. Perhaps its lucky that I acquired Avid Xpress Pro HD last year when it became available. Even though the new Adobe Video Collection upgrade is only $650 for me . . . if it does not have native support for the HVX then Adobe has seen their last dollar from me. I'm not mad (because I expected this), but maybe it's time I make the leap to a more professional NLE. I think they have made the choices very clear, and in all honesty unless RAYLIGHT allows me to edit 720p HD I will most likely be headed to the nearest Apple store. It's time for a new computer anyhow.

Now I need your attention and knowledge. I just spoke with my countrys Adobes costumer service (Greece) When I asked them if it supports DVCPRO-HD they asked me if that was a cameras name !!! and then they put me on hold for a minute or two !!! The final answer was that of caurse it doesnt natively. Need the extra Aja card etc etc. When I asked them about HDV they also said that a special card is required, and I just finished the conversation cause I realy got mad. After I hung up I was thinking if they mean the video capture card, but I am not calling back cause the guy I spoke was polite, probably a nice guy to hang around, but completly clueless. Anyone knows for sure ? Does the majority of video capture cards suport HDV ? If not we are talking about the most warthless NLE sofware upgrade of the decade !

Damn I sware I hate companies. Just when you buy one thing, you want to buy something else that does the same thing but looks cooler or does it better. Just got Vegas Video now Im gonna get this. I been having Avid. I wish I could trade in old software for new stuff. Lol. Good thing this is my only hobby! Id be broke!
When is this coming out or can we get it now?

OMG I love that easy to use review and save clip notes thing with adobe PDF! This is way better to do with my clients since most are on the net more than they can come over and check it out!

WOW !! Thats all I can say! I cant wait. Im getting the Video Production setup thing. Hopefully this is my last buy for a while. Im gonna get my shop in the military to get this too!

The more info I get about the new Production Bundle.....
I bought the last Video Collection from Adobe.
But I think they finally gave me enough info to
convince me to switch to Apple. Waiting for NAB.

Abobe would be stupid not to have some plan for DVCPROHD, even if it is a third-party affair. I too would wait for NAB to see what they say.
