Premiere Importing Issues

Having difficulty importing video shot with the following setup into Adobe Premiere CS3. I have a wedding I video taped and I'm desperate to get the video edited and back to the couple.

Camera: Canon XL2
Frame Rate: 60i
Audio: 12-bit (For 3 Channel Recording)

Computer: MacBook Pro
Edit Soft: Adobe Premiere CS3

I've attempted a few different settings for importing, including the 60i HDV 1080 setting which had no audio and showed no video. When I can get it to import video, in a clean manner, the audio is out of sync. When I can get the audio in sync it drops too many frames and the video seems "jumpy", or broken up. I also get pixel lines across fast moving objects in the video when in some settings.

Please, if anyone can help, please please please let me know what I'm doing wrong, or what setting I should be using. Someone told me that I should be using Final Cut Pro rather than Premiere.

I don't know if it'll help, but I did notice that when I'm capturing XL2 24p footage on premiere pro CS3 on my macbook pro, with some tapes (not all of them, maybe about 1 in 5) the audio has a tendency to be out of sync when I start capturing right at the beginning of the miniDV tape. I don't know why exactly, but when I skip the first 5-6 seconds and start capturing right after that delay, the audio gets right back in synch. If I were you (and if you haven't tried it yet), I'd try capturing something at various times on the tape just to see if audio synch's alright in these shots.

Don't know if it would work the same way for 60i footage as I'm always working 24p though.

Have you tried cleaning your tape heads with a cleaning tape? Might be one of the reasons why your footage gets out of synch or you have so many dropped frames or pixel lines. If you've already cleaned your heads a few times, might be best for you to send your camera over to Canon for a checkup.

Adobe Premiere has 60i listed only under HDV. XL2 records in 60i. I guess my big concern is why I can't import video. I don't know what the setting should be for adobe premiere.
 
Oh, lol, sorry, I thought by reading your first post that you had tried all DV NTSC options first and that they weren't working well with capturing your footage!

Premiere Pro can import 60i DV of course, it's just not listed as "DV 60i" but as "DV - NTSC" (which is by definition 60i for NTSC standard def). You have to choose after that either the standard project for 4:3 (fullscreen) capture and widescreen for 16:9 aspect ratio capture. 32k or 48k defines the audio quality of the projet, but unless you recorded 4 mics on your XL2, always choose 48k.

I'm having way too many issues with this. I should never have gotten into this. Now I'm still dropping frames.

Can anyone tell me what the settings should be for 60i recorded on a XL2 with 3 channels of audio for DVD high quality format? I'm also getting some video noise in the night shots. Please help!
