Premiere CS5: AVCHD or Neoscene??

I have Premiere CS5, and was wondering if anybody could clearly state he pros and cons of the AVCHD workflow vs. using Neoscene cineform.

If you're looking to output to the best quality, which method would you use? I found a few threads that touched on this but the info seemed to be scattered.

If you are going to do extensive VFX work or green screen work with your footage, Cineform will be the way to go. For normal live action narrative type editing without a lot of VFX beyond typical scene transitions and title overlays AVCHD will work OK.

But what about getting the best possible quality as far as resolution goes? Will editing in AVCHD be any better than converting to cineform first?

Yes, in the sense that there is one less step of generational compression if you edit from the AVCHD file. Cineform is remarkable quality and visually lossless, but is still compressed. But if you are working between After Effects and Premiere, you will want to use Cineform.

Did you buy PP as a standalone or Production Premium/Master Collection?

I use the included media encoder to transcode AVCHD to AVC-Intra 100; visually lossless and extremely smooth editing. No need to speed any more money on Cineform.

IMO Production Premium/Master Collection are the best video editing suites on the market today hands down.
